Most cars with fuel injection are equipped with a mass air flow sensor (MAF), the readings of which affect the characteristics of the air-fuel mixture and the proper operation of the engine. During operation, the sensor's sensitive element is covered with a layer of soot, dust, oil and air filter fibers. This reduces the accuracy of the measurement, which leads to incorrect engine operation, loss of power, increased fuel consumption and increased toxicity of exhaust gases.
