The production of BF-2 glue is based on phenol-polyvinyl acetate. An adhesive solution of this type was created in the USSR in the 60s of the XX century. The solution is a liquid of high viscosity, which is notable for its small thickness, does not have a pronounced shade, and has an unpleasant chemical odor. BF-2 glue can be used to join surfaces made of metal, marble, polymer materials, wood, glass.

Important! The product is presented in the form of a one-component thermosetting composition with fast polymerization.
Working properties and composition
Technological and technical characteristics in the description of BF-2 glue indicate that when using this glue mixture, a seam of low elasticity is formed.

Moreover, it is resistant to high temperatures (up to 200 ° C).

The level of bond strength under shear loads: 19.5-20 MPa.
Bending of the glue line after full curing: no more than 3 mm.
Viscosity at 20-25 ° C: about 30-50 Pa · s.
Dry residue percentage: no more than 17%.
An increase in the viscosity of the BF-2 glue is observed if storage is carried out at subzero temperatures.

Important! Immediately before use, the mixture must be warmed up to 20-25 ° C (warming up should occur naturally in a warm room; forced heating is prohibited).
The product has a high level of resistance to the negative effects of chemicals, non-aggressive liquids, fungi and mold. Also, common solvents do not affect it in any way: gasoline, acetone, alkali, alcohol and liquids based on them. Due to this, the products have a wide range of applications, ranging from simple household bonding work to the medical dental field.

For the production of products, manufacturing plants use GOST 12172-74. BF-2 glue is made from phenol-formaldehyde resin substances with the obligatory addition of polyvinyl butyral or polyvinyl acetal. No other components are provided in the adhesive solution. Due to this composition, there are practically no analogues of these products on the Russian market, because other manufacturers do not use these components in the production of adhesive solutions.

Scope of use
The instructions for the use of BF-2 glue stipulate that the solution should be used to connect products and materials that do not move during operation and are not subject to any dynamic loads.

Important! BF-2 glue can be used if the product to be glued is motionless. Otherwise, the glue line is deformed, because after curing it has minimal elasticity.
The use and application of BF-2 glue is allowed for joining materials:

Porcelain stoneware.
Wooden.

BF-2 glue can be used for gluing two products made of different materials (for example, plastic and wood, glass and ceramics).

Important! The manual for the operation and operation of BF-2 glue says that the composition should be applied in 2 layers, which will ensure a high level of adhesion of materials.
Glue BF-2 and BF-4 during the Soviet era were used in cases when various radio devices and acoustic equipment were repaired. An adhesive of this type, in theory, can be used as a paint and varnish material or an impregnation for surfaces that are being restored or restored.

Instructions for use
According to the manufacturer's recommendation, it is necessary to work with BF-2 adhesive according to the following instructions:

It is necessary to prepare the surfaces to be glued before work. It is recommended to pre-sand the surfaces to increase adhesion, degrease, remove oil stains, dirt, dust.
BF-2 glue must be applied to both surfaces to be joined. The application should be carried out as thin as possible, which should be evenly distributed over the joint area of ​​the parts. You can apply the mixture with a brush or any other suitable means at hand.
As soon as the first layer of BF-2 or BF-4 glue hardens, it is necessary to apply the second layer using the same technology.
If the cold gluing method is used to join surfaces, then immediately after the second layer has been applied, the products must be connected to each other. If possible, the surfaces must be pressed with a vise so that the connection is tight and one-piece.

Important! The seam will take about 1-2 days to cure. Only after this period has expired can you start using the glued parts.
If BF-2 glue gets on the skin, you just need to rinse the composition with warm running water. No additional processing is required, because many adhesive solutions of this series are used for medical purposes, therefore they are not toxic and cannot harm human health.
